You shall have no other gods before Me.

God alone is Lord. We are called to place nothing — wealth, power, or pleasure — above our relationship with Him. He is the source and summit of our lives.

Exodus 20:3

You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.

God's name is holy. We honor Him by speaking His name with reverence and keeping our promises made in His name. Words carry weight when spoken in faith.

Exodus 20:7

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.

Rest is sacred. The Lord set apart the seventh day as holy rest, a day to gather, worship, and restore our souls. For us, Sunday Mass is the heart of this commandment.

Exodus 20:8

Honor your father and your mother.

Family is the first community of love. To honor our parents — in word, action, and gratitude — is to honor the life God gave us. It is the first commandment with a promise.

Exodus 20:12

You shall not murder.

Every human life bears the image of God. We are called to protect life — from its beginning to its natural end — and to resist violence, hatred, and every force that diminishes human dignity.

Exodus 20:13

You shall not commit adultery.

Marriage is a sacred covenant mirroring Christ's love for the Church. Fidelity, purity of heart, and respect for the dignity of every person are the calls of this commandment.

Exodus 20:14

You shall not steal.

Justice and respect for what belongs to others flows from love of neighbor. We are stewards, not owners — called to generosity, fairness, and care for those without.

Exodus 20:15

You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

Truth is sacred. We are called to speak honestly, protect the reputation of others, and refuse to deceive. Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life — and we are His witnesses.

Exodus 20:16

You shall not covet your neighbor's wife.

Purity of heart — in thought, desire, and intention — is the call of this commandment. We guard our inner life as carefully as our outward actions, for the heart is where all choices begin.

Exodus 20:17

You shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor.

Contentment and gratitude are the antidote to envy. We are called to rejoice in the blessings of others and to find our sufficiency in God alone — who provides all that we truly need.
