Where can We Find this Commandment in the Bible?

You can find this commandment in Exodus 20.1-17 .

How can we Follow this Commandment in Our Daily Lives?

You can follow this commandment in your daily life by Going to Church and Praying To Jesus who we believe who died for our sins. We should give Thanks to The Lord our  God for all the blessings that he has gave.

2nd Commandment : “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.”

Joshua

How do I interpret second commandment ?

What does it mean when someone says the commandment, you shall not take the name of the  LORD your God in vain? When you interpret this, you want to think of why God made this  commandment. He made this commandment to tell us that the lord’s name is sacred, and that it’s  sinful to use the lord’s name in a way that dishonors him or to use it in a way that is disrespectful  to him. So, you should use it in a way that honors him.

Where can We Find this Commandment in the Bible?

You can find this commandment in the bible when in Exodus chapter 20 God says, “You must  not use the name of the Lord your God thoughtlessly. The Lord will punish anyone who is guilty  and misuses his name.” Another time when this commandment is used is in Matthew chapter 5  when Jesus says, “Again, you have heard how it was said to our ancestors, You must not break  your oath, but must fulfil your oaths to the Lord. But I say this to you, do not swear at all, either  by heaven, since that is God's throne; or by earth, since that is his footstool; or by Jerusalem,  since that is the city of the great King. Do not swear by your own head either, since you cannot  turn a single hair white or black. All you need say is "Yes" if you mean yes, "No" if you mean  no; anything more than this comes from the Evil One.” When Jesus spoke about this, he  explained how swearing on things was bad, and by swearing on the lord’s places, you are  disobeying the commandment.

How can we Follow this Commandment in Our Daily Lives?

We can follow this commandment that you shall not take the name of the LORD your God in  vain by doing things like always speaking with deep respect for God. Another way we can  follow this commandment in our daily lives is by not speaking with the Lord’s name carelessly.  By doing this, you can make sure that you are not using the Lord’s name in vain, which means  that you are following the commandment that you shall not take the name of the LORD your  God in vain.

Therefore, the second commandment, “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in  vain” means.

*  The lord’s name is sacred,

*  It’s sinful to use the lord’s name in a way that dishonors him

*  It is sinful to use the lord’s name in a way that disrespectful to him.

*  You should use it in a way that honors him.

3rd Commandment : “Remember to keep holy the LORD'S Day.”

Varun Mathew, Nile & Daniel Joy

How do We interpret third commandment?

How do I keep the Sabbath Holy? Well that’s easy. Go to Church with your parents at least every  Sunday. You should not spend the lord's day on trivial things. Why though? Well for 1, all  Christians must follow all the precepts of the church. The very first precept is that all Christians  must go to church on Sundays or days of obligation. Days of obligation are important days in  Christianity, such as Christmas, Easter etc. But you do not get forced to attend mass. The thing is the church is God's home and is also the best place to pray and ask God for his blessings.

Where can We Find this Commandment in the Bible?

There are many examples of the 3rd commandment being used in the bible. In Genesis chapter  1:1-31 it says that the lord worked hard for six days creating the moon and the sun and the stars,  animals, rivers etc. That was called the creation. On the seventh he rested and the seventh day is  the sabbath, a day of no work. On the seventh day god blessed it and hallowed it so that is how it  became the sabbath. Exodus chapter 20:8 says when Moses returned from Mount Sinai holding  the two tablets which inscribed with the 10 commandments this is another place where you will  find the 3rd commandment. In Deuteronomy chapter 5:12 it shows how Moses reviewed the 10  commandments with Israel. In Colossians 2:16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in  questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath.

How can we Follow this Commandment in Our Daily Lives?

One of the easiest ways is to go to mass every Sunday with your family not just physically but  spiritually be in his presence. Another way is to Gather with fellow believers to encourage and  be encouraged by praying to god together. Another way to keep the sabbath holy is to read the  bible. Be the best version of yourself on every day and be kind like a Samaritan.

Dedicate some time every Sunday to reflect and be grateful for all his blessings and make known  his kindness through works of alms giving calling a friend listening to someone being there for a  friend helping the poor and the destitute.

4th Commandment : “Honor your father and your mother.”

Milan & Nia

How do we interpret fourth commandment?

As children, our greatest role models are our parents. They protect us, care for us, and support us  as we grow older. Therefore, God has given us the Commandment of honoring our father and  mother. As a child, I viewed this commandment as making sure I never upset or brought any  shame to them. The 4th Commandment also tells us to respect and obey our parents. I also view  the 4th Commandment as a foundation for a good family life. When parents and their children  work together with respect and love for each other, they are living this commandment.

Where can We Find this Commandment in the Bible?

Here are 2 places we can find this in the bible: One of them is, “Honor your father and your  mother, as the Lord your God commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may go  well with you in the and that the Lord your God is giving you.” - Deuteronomy 5:16. This tells me that if you honor our father and mother, you will be with God in heaven one day.  You will also have a great life. Another one, Colossians 3:20: “Children, obey your parents in all

things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.” This proves by doing this, we are obeying God and  obeying his commandments.

How can we Follow this Commandment in Our Daily Lives?

We, as children, can follow this commandment in our daily lives by respecting, obeying, and  understanding our parents and try to always make them smile. We can also further strengthen our  faith within our family by adhering to the 10 Commandments which are located in the Book of  Exodus Chapter 20 in the Bible.

5th Commandment : “You shall not kill”

Rooha

How do I interpret fifth commandment?

By the 5th commandment we are commanded to take proper care of our own spiritual and bodily  well-being and that of our neighbor. The 5th commandment requires us to show love for  neighbor by respecting his person and not injuring him in any way. Some things this  commandment makes us do are easy, such as eating and drinking; others are hard, such as taking  medicine when needed. If we love God, we do all the things he commands, hard or easy, simply  because it pleases him. The fifth commandment rule’s out doing things like murder and, and also  fighting, anger, hatred, and revenge. When we kill something, we are killing something that our  God has made. Everything that God has made is beautiful, and if we break this commandment, it  is like we are destroying God’s creations. We are destroying the beautiful things that God has  made. We should learn how to control our deadly thoughts, because it is wrong to cause pain to  anything or anyone. So, this commandment tells to not kill or hurt any of God’s creations.

Where can We Find this Commandment in the Bible?

In Matthew 5:21, “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and  whoever murders will be liable to judgment. “And Jesus continues “But I say to you that  everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother  will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire”. God  loves everyone, and values human life. God made every single person in this world in his own  image. So, if you hurt someone, it is like you are hurting God.

How can we Follow this Commandment in Our Daily Lives?

We can do this in our daily lives by not taking out our anger in ways that can hurt others. We  should learn how to control our thoughts and move forward with peace and forgiveness. Another  way is taking care of our environment. You should try finding was to help the beautiful things  that God has made in the world.

You can do that by recycling, reusing, and finding ways to donate to organizations. You can also  plant trees, conserve water, and volunteer to keep your community clean and safe. These are  some ways you follow this commandment in our daily lives.

6th Commandment : “You shall not commit adultery.”

Akhil (AKA-Unni)

How do I interpret sixth commandment?

Do you know what the 6th commandment is? The 6th commandment is “Thou shalt not commit  adultery”.As a 14 year old I would assume that this commandant means that a man or woman  should not be having a relationship with another man or woman other than their own husband or  wife. This commandment can mean many other things, but this what my opinion about the  commandment is. Maybe someone older or younger might have a different perspective about the  commandment.

Where can We Find this Commandment in the Bible?

In Matthew 5 27-30 "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not commit  adultery.' But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed  adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from  you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body  to be cast into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it  is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast  into hell.” This reading from the Bible tells us that it is wrong to commit adultery and that you  should not do it.

How can we Follow this Commandment in Our Daily Lives?

One way we can follow the commandment is to follow and act justly in charity with your  relationship. We can love our husband’s or wife’s and not have an other relationships with any  one else. The commandment says that you should not have thoughts, words or actions that are not  appropriate about someone else.It says that we should love our wife’s and husbands and should  not betray them.I tink the 7th commandment is a serious commandment and that you should not  commit it.If you do commit it then you should go to church and get penance.

7th Commandment : “You shall not steal.”

Elaine Joy & Don Paul

How do we interpret seventh commandment ?

The 7th commandment means we shall not take things such as money and other goods from  our neighbor. Stealing is Mortal which means this can weaken our relationship with God. An  example would be if we went to a store and took a few things from a store without leaving to pay  any money for it. This is considered stealing. Plagiarizing is a form of stealing. Plagerising is a  way of stealing other people’s property or work.

Where can We Find this Commandment in the Bible?

The text for the bible on the ten commandments is in Exodus 20:2-17 and Deuteronomy 5:6-21 The 7th commandment is shown in Exodus 20:15 and Deuteronomy 5:19

How can we Follow this Commandment in Our Daily Lives?

The way to follow this commandment is by the art of listening and asking. It is a simple concept  many have trouble understanding. If we all ask for what we want in our daily life and listen, then  that is how we follow this commandment. To expand upon this is by listening and obeying and  to be grateful for what you have at the current time.

8th Commandment : “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.”

Arun (AKA-Appu)

How do I interpret eigth commandment?

As a child, I can interpret this commandment as to not lie about one another. Meaning I should  not spread false accusations against my friends and peers.

Where can We Find this Commandment in the Bible?

We can connect/find this commandment through the bible in Mark 3:33-34. In this verse Jesus asks us who are my mother and brothers? Then Jesus goes on saying that  whoever does God will be my brother, sister, and mother.

How does this connect to the commandment? Well if you do not bear false witness against your  neighbor, you are doing God's will and will be part of God's family in heaven.

How can we Follow this Commandment in Our Daily Lives?

We can follow this commandment in many ways throughout our everyday lives. One such way  we can follow it is to not lie. Lying can lead to misinterpretations about others. Another way we  can follow this commandment is treat everyone fairly. "Everyone" is said because when God  says neighbors, he means everyone.

9th Commandment : “You shall not covet your neighbors wife.”

Lena (AKA-Ammu)

How do I interpret ninth commandment?

The 9th commandment tells us not to covet our neighbor’s wife. By the ninth  commandment we are commanded to be pure in thought and desire. Basic thoughts about  impure things are not always sinful in themselves, but such thoughts are dangerous.  Thoughts about impure things become sinful when a person thinks of an unchaste act and  knowingly takes pleasure in thinking them. Thoughts can also become sinful when you  give consent to an unchaste desire or passion. If your intentions come from a place of  greed and lust, it is dishonorable. This will only move you further away from God. This  commandment also tells us we should never desire someone that is already in a  relationship with someone else. When we covet, we are wrongfully desiring someone  that is forbidden, without regard for the rights of others. In conclusion, the ninth  commandment wants us to be pure in thought and desire.

Where can We Find this Commandment in the Bible?

In Colossians 3:5, ¨So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have  nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires¨. This verse tells us  that having these thoughts are deadly. It will do harm to us and others if we continue to  have these evil desires. So we should have nothing to do with these thoughts, that will  dirty our soul, but instead seek the light we can find in God.

How can we Follow this Commandment in Our Daily Lives?

We can follow this commandment in our daily lives by knowing in our hearts that  wishing for someone that is already in a relationship is wrong. It can never be justified.  You cannot violate someone's rights, by having an eager desire for someone that is not  yours to claim. It is unjust and will only cause hurt and pain. If we do find ourselves in  these situations, we can always look to our faith for guidance. We can avoid these  temptations by doing a little prayer or by keeping busy. We should know our God has  already given us everything we need, and that we do not need to have anything else to  feel content.

10th Commandment : “You shall not covet your neighbors goods.”

Manu & Ryan

How do we interpret tenth commandment ?

We are not supposed to desire other’s things. We get what the Lord gives us and what  we deserve. We should always be thankful for what we have. We should not be greedy  about our friend’s possession or jealous about their talents. God always provide the  possession needed for once life and give unique talents. We should use God’s gifts in  favor of his will instead of being greedy or jealous towards others. We should use  other’s goods with their permission and use it responsibly without causing any damage.

Where can We Find this Commandment in the Bible?

We can see this commandment in bible in Exodus 20:17, Thou shalt not covet thy  neighbor’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his  maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor’s.

This is when Lord give commandments to Israelites at Mount Sinai for the first time.

In Luke 12:15, Then He said to them, “Beware, and be on your guard against every  form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his  possessions.”.

In this verse, Jesus teaches us to guard us against greed or desires. Jesus wars us to  beware from the sin of covetousness.

In Romans 13:9-10, For this, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder,  you shall not steal, you shall not covet, and if there is any other commandment, it is  summed up in this saying, you shall love your neighbor as yourself. Love does no  wrong to a neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfillment of the law.

In this verse the commandments 5 to 10 is concluded as the fulfillment of law. Hence,  by not coveting neighbor’s property we are following Lords law of Love “You shall  love your neighbor as yourself”.

How can we follow this commandment in our daily life?

This commandment is very meaningful in our daily life. We live in a world where our  friends have many things that we do not have in our life such as toys or game gadgets.  We always have temptation to have it as our own. But we should always remember  God’s commandment that “you shall not covet your neighbor’s goods”. If we want to  use their goods, we should get their permission first and use it responsibly. We could  also borrow things from our friends and return it safely. Pray to God for things you  desire for and if it is his will, we will get it. Sometimes our friends may have special  talents like they are good at Kung fu. Instead of being jealous, we ask God, and he will  gift those talents if it is needed in our life. We should also find our own talents, work  hard on those, and use it to make our Lord happy.
